Gallimimus was a small omnivorous theropod that lived around 75 to 70 million years ago during the late Cretaceous period. Gallimimus had a toothless beak and probably ate small insects and lizards as well as plant material. Gallimimus walked on two hind limbs and could probably run very fast, possibly as fast as 65/70kph (40mph)

Gallimimus means "Rooster Mimic". Fossils have been found in the Gobi desert of Mongolia in Asia.It was named by palaeontologists Rinchen Barsbold, Halszka Osmólska, and Ewa Roniewicz in 1972.
