Giganotosaurus was a massive carnivorous theropod that lived around 110 to 95 million years ago during the middle Cretaceous period. Giganotosaurus is the longest carnivorous dinosaur yet discovered - it is longer than Tyrannosaurs rex. Its skull contained huge 200mm (8in) long serrated teeth that it used for attacking and eating massive vegetarian Sauropods.

Giganotosaurus means "Giant Southern Lizard". Fossils have been found in Southern Argentina in South America.It was named by palaeontologists Rodolfo Coria and Leonardo Salgado in 1995.
